The United-States-Mexico Chamber of Commerce, Inter-American Chapter is partnering up with Robert Allen Law to help promote the 2010 Miami-Dade Coastal Cleanup, a part of the Ocean Conservancy’s International Coastal Cleanup.  The Ocean Conservancy, founded in 1972, is a nonprofit advocacy group based in Washington, D.C., which aims to promote healthy and diverse ocean ecosystems through activities such as the International Coastal Cleanup.  Every third Saturday in September, volunteers around the world unite in an effort to clean up Earth’s precious beaches and coastal areas.  At last year's Cleanup, nearly 500,000 volunteers collected more than 7.4 million pounds of trash in 108 countries and 45 US states — the largest volunteer effort of its kind.

Traditionally the International Coastal Cleanup event takes place on the third Saturday of September, however this year due to the Jewish holiday of Yom Kippur falling on that day, the Coastal Cleanup event for Miami-Dade County has been moved to the fourth Saturday of the month - September 25th, 2010, from 9:00AM to 12:00PM, and will take place in 40 sites throughout Miami-Dade.  For more information or to register as a volunteer for this year’s Miami-Dade Coastal Cleanup, please go to www.miamidadecoastalcleanup.org. Registration opens on August 11th, 2010.

This partnership with Robert Allen Law, is another example of how the United-States Chamber of Commerce is committed towards cleaning and protecting the environment by helping to eliminate debris that injure wildlife, contaminate our beaches and waterways, and threaten boater safety in Miami-Dade County.
